I started a Pandora bracelet with the gift money from my birthday. I figured the charms would be a nice, easy, little thing that I could refer people to when they ask for gift ideas. In the process, we would also be building an heirloom, something I can pass down to M. But what I can foresee happening is this becoming an obsession, and I will have it full of charms before a gift-giving event comes up ion the calendar!

I started off with a Pandora silver bracelet with lobster clasp, and two clips.

I wanted to add a pearl dangly charm in the middle, but because of a promotion, I ended up with a pink jeweled spacer as well.

Next I wanted to add a retired swirly charm, which I was able to find still at the original price, and again because there was a promotion running, I had to buy a second one, so I selected the cupcake.

My toes are a lovely golden green, and match my shoes and my army green button-up shirt-dress perfectly! Borghese Euro Green, the one and only bottled I ever purchased from this drugstore brand. I didn’t use a top coat because I was hoping to find a gold shatter polish today (I was unsuccessful) to apply on top.

My fingers are a free-handed funky French manicure, with soft pink (Essie Limo-scene) and grey-green (Essie Sew Psyched) with a Seche Vite topcoat.

TRON Legacy

Last night, in preparation to watch TRON Legacy, I re-watched the original TRON film. It seemed so much cooler when I saw it 25 years ago! It’s a movie that didn’t age well, looking silly compared to film magic of today. But TRON Legacy was awesome! Yes, Sam (as Calvin pointed out) had lines that consisted of at most 5-word sentences, but he was sooo nice to look at, and the black and white and glow-suit imagery was visually exciting and very appealing, and the Daft Punk OST was fun, energizing, and fitting. And I was super excited to see that Sam was riding my dream motorbike, a Ducati Sport Classic!

I didn’t get to see it in 3D, due to technical difficulties. I will have to take the girls later in the week. They were disappointed to hear I was going to the movie without them. I didn’t think they would be interested in it, but they have been watching the previews on the Disney Channel, so that’s how they knew about it. I think the tech talk will have them a little lost and confused, but there the story is easy enough to follow without understanding all of it.

The first round of golf with my new shoes and new clubs was quite the experience. We went to Countryside, and had to be there bright and early for a 8:34 tee time. (ugh too early for a Saturday morning!)

The weather was cold (under 10 degrees) and very, very windy, so it made for a tough 18 holes, but it was still a lot of fun! We rented a golf cart so I didn’t use my new pushy cart. I discovered that my set contained two 5H clubs, so I have to exchange one for a 4H. I didn’t lose any pink balls, either, although I had some pretty good retrievers watching where they land… thanks boys! I might have abandoned 2 in the tall grass if I had been searching for them on my own. Mostly I hit pretty straight so the pink balls were easy to see. I also didn’t shoot over the water because the wind was so bad and honestly, I can’t drive them all that far yet.

In the end, my score card contained mostly :) faces, a few meh faces, and only one :( face! All in all, a great round because I had fun!

Best movie I’ve seen in a long time

I saw Inception on Saturday night. I heard from sources that you shouldn’t be late getting there, and don’t doze off or get up to leave the theatre, in other words, don’t miss a second of it, or you might get lost.

The movie wasn’t hard to watch. The plot is simple. Yes, if missed screen time then you might have missed something vital, but the movie was so engaging that I couldn’t see myself leaving my seat. It is the underlying motive in the movie that will keep you thinking about it as you leave the theatre. I had a few “I know what’s going to happen next” instances, but it didn’t spoil the movie. The scene transitions were flawless and the acting was amazing. It really is as brilliant as everyone is saying!

Plot summary from IMDB (without giving anything away):

Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. I went to my first Sonic Session last Wednesday, to see Civil Twilight. It was a little disappointing to see that the Pointe West Honda Listener Lounge (as cramped as it was) was still so empty, because Civil Twilight is so awesome!! At the same time, it was satisfying to know that I am one of the music elite who manages to stay ahead of the scene.

The boys talked a bit about themselves and the band and South Africa, why they moved to the States, commented on the flatness of Edmonton, and of course played some songs! (Soldier, Perfect Stranger, and Letters from the Sky)

Then there was an autograph and photo session. I was having a bad hair day and I look like a dork.

I was at the park today when I saw something swimming towards me in the water. At first I thought it was an otter, but as it got closer, I could see it was much larger. It swam past and then I forgot about it.

A while later, I was walking back to my car and guess who I met amongst the trees... a beaver! He (or she, I don't know how to tell them apart) was so close I could have touched him, but thought better of it. Molly the Owl

In local California news, there is a barn owl in San Marcos, CA who is now world renowned. Since February, she has a webcam set up on her, capturing her laying eggs last month, to their recent hatching. Her name is Molly.
