My Latest Obsession
On Sunday, the BF put a jailbreak on my iPhone and since then I have been obsessing over building my own custom theme. Here are some screen shots.
The home screen background transitions between two images.
I have been lazy and instead of creating my own icons, I have pieced together a few different sets.
lock & charging screen, with a calendar reminders displayed:
custom SMS screen & keyboard:
custom dialer and iTunes store:
I have done more, but this is highlighting the majority of the changes.

Dance Dance
BF: Woman, are these new shoes?!
(obviously he saw my new shoes on the bathroom floor)
Me: (in a slightly higher than usual pitched voice) Maybe...
BF: I thought I forbid you to buy these shoes!?
Me: (confidently) Nope! You just told me you thought they were ugly!
Honestly, he didn't forbid me to buy them; he simply had commented that they were ugly.
I told everyone I was going to get these shoes, even if it killed me... see HERE.

I just saw a snail zoom past me!
I have been in the car for an hour and I'm only 15minutes away from
home. Barely any snow fell but the roads are so freaking slippery.
Traffic is moving so slow, I just saw a snail zoom past me!!
With this 'free' time I am listening to the Kevin Smith smodcast,
delighted that I was experimenting with outing podcasts on my iPhone
last night. They are talking about Zac and Miri Make a Porno.
And I'm starving! I am eating white TicTacs, spearmint Excel mints,
and original Lakerol pastilles Ikea. They are not appeasing the
rumblies in my tummy.

Who vs Whom
It drives me crazy to listen to people misusing words. I stumbled upon this trick to remembering when to say "who" and when to say "whom".
Correct usage of these two words can be determined by dividing a sentence in two.
* Use who when it stands for he, she, they, I or we.
Examples:
The police issued a public alert for a man who they said was armed and dangerous. (He was armed and dangerous, therefore, who.)It is the board who approves resolutions from the Representative Forum.
* Use whom when it stands for him, her, them, me or us.
Examples:
Whom do you prefer for these jobs? (You preferred them f or the job.)

Any Key
I have found
(dun-dun-duuuunnnnn)
the ANYKEY
on my DVD remote control:
haha ! I just noticed that the hand on the magazine cover appears to be reaching to grab my remote. I wish I could take credit for the creative genius, but it’s a total fluke!!

New album Dark Horse by Nickelback
I have been listening to it all morning and Dark Horse is amazing!! Lyrics about sex, drugs, rock n' roll, amazing riffs and Chad's powerful voice, co-produced by the band and Mutt Lange, this album has more of an old-school rock sound than of the post-grunge genre Nickelback usually is placed in.

- Something In Your Mouth
- S.E.X.
- Just To Get High
- Next Go Round
- If Today Was Your Last Day
- I'd Come Back For You
- Gotta Be Somebody
- Burn It To The Ground
- Shakin' Hands
- Never Gonna Be Alone
Honestly, I LOVE every song except for 'This Afternoon'; it sounds waaaaay too country-ish for my liking.
Dark Horse is set to be released November 18th.

More connected less effective
Now that I have an iPhone, I am blessed with a constant connection to
the Internet, email and text messages. One would think this would make
me more responsive and accessible by I find that my inboxes are filled
with more unaddressed messages than ever before!
Messages come in when I'm in the car, at the store, in meetings... I'm
usually quick to get my messages but clearing them out of my inbox is
proving to be difficult.
With emails, I find my inbox is littered with messages I need to view
from by home computer. It could be because they contain Flash files
(not yet viewable on the iPhone) or other files I want to save to my
computer at home. Sounds easy enough, if it wasn't for the fact that
since I'm connected all day, I do not want to go home and spend more
time on the computer.
The other emails are ones I need to respond to but because I might
view the message when I'm not able to reply they get piled up with all
the others and the idea of going through them in the evening is such a
daunting task.
Text messages, same thing. I read them when I can't respond and then
they pile up.
I am not at home at the momemt, and I suppose I could be using this
time to reply to messages, yet here I am, blogging about why I am
behind instead. Isn't that the way it always is?

Pink Dragon
I was sent on a mission to track down a Webkinz Bat for Miranda and in my journey I found a pink dragon. PINK! I had to have it. Now Pink Dragon is sitting on my desk at work, guarding over my pink folders, pink paper clip, pink tacks in my bulletin board, and all my other pink office things.

My New Favourite FOX Sweater
My new sweater. These images don’t do it justice. I have to try taking some with my camera. It has logo buttons, stars on the pocket and roses on the side and sleeve. It’s so cozy! I fell in love with it the first moment I saw it. I wish I could wear it every day.

Some random guy’s signature on my leg
Here's the story how I ended up with this on my leg.
Niki had this great idea for us to go out dancing!!
![]() | ![]() |
![]() | ![]() |
Near the end of the night, Niki and I take a break from dancing and we found Raylene and Jen sitting with some random guy. There was a blonde hovering around and Jen stepped in to rescue him. We talked about my shoes because it was apparently impressive that I could walk in them, let alone dance all night long in them. I jumped up and down a few times to show off.
So this guy says to me, "I don't know what to say to you, you are so beautiful."
I laughed and said thanks. As you can see, I didn't look all that beautiful, hot from dancing so much and my hair was pulled back in a messy ponytail in an attempt to cool me off.
Later on, he was talking to me about this song that was playing, at which point I said to him, "Ok, so you seem to be someone popular, with all these people hanging around. Who are you?" Jen, the hockey super fan, had already told me he was one of the Oilers. She probably said his name, too, but I wasn't paying attention.
He told me his name and said he was a soccer playing from Europe. I asked from where in Europe. He said from the Czech Republic. I asked him why he called it soccer, because I though everyone in Europe call it football. He shrugged and did a little imitation of a soccer player with a ball.
Another girl came over and she had her cell phone taking pictures of him and had a paper for him to sign with a Sharpie. And then he wrote on my leg.

Urban Organic Absurdity
The talented and lovely Artist in Residence Stephanie Jonsson has her latest exhibit opening today until November 15th at the Harcourt House Arts Centre
3rd Floor Gallery
10215 - 112 Street
Edmonton, AB, Canada
Says Steph of her work,
My work is a paradox; a reaction to the absence of nature in our increasingly urban culture. The industrial, civilized world has become so disconnected from nature that it appears strange to me, like an absurd alien universe.
I am really looking forward to seeing this exhibit! and not only because I helped out with some of it – I helped stuff these things (seen here, arranged on my floor for the photo) Stop in to see the exhibit so you can see how the artist incorporated them into her work. I guarantee it will be more spectacular than my little pile on the floor.
Please support the Arts, and our local artists!!

oh so Pretty (pink) Packaging for a Princess
When it comes to my skin and hair, I don't trust just any products, and usually go to salons and costmetic counters and stay away from the drugstore for these purchases. I happened across these pretty bottles a while ago and I thought, oh, how pretty they are! The other day, I stopped to smell them and yummmm, they smelled nice, so I caved and bought them. I have been pleasantly surprised, because they seem to be pretty nice on my hair, too. They don't leave it feeling sliky and smooth but not goopy nor grimy.

Life With No Computer
upgrades and honestly, when is a computer job ever as simple as it
looked to be in theory?)
A short while ago, I would have be going insane if I was in this
situation! I am surprised by how calm I am without it. Mainly I'm
doing fine is because I have my handy dandy iPhone to keep me feeling
like I am still part of the collective.
So without my PC, I have filled my extra time with the following.
- Playing a lot of guitar hero
- Watching a few movies
- Playing games with Miranda
- Napping after work
- Blogging via email
- Talking on the phone
- Forgetting to check my email (seriously, I seem to be checking it
once in the morning then at dinner home I'm surprised I haven't
thought about it all day and I check it again)
- Trying to Facebook (I don't care too much for the FB iPhone app so I
switch between that, mobile Facebook and the regular FB site in
Safari, then eventually give up)
- Going to bed a little earlier
- Reading (a cheesy chick-lit book that is almost too painful to read.
Second worst book purchase over the past 10 years (the first worst
book is sitll 'The Alchemist'; I didn't make it past page 9) 'Princess
Izzy and the E Street Shuffle'. It was less than five bucks so don't
be judging me!
I haven't checked my rss feeds in ages...
My point is I'm not freaking out about my computer being gone for so
long, which is probably a very good thing. If I was freaking out about
it, I would end up dead, either by (a) anxiety from being computer-
less, or (b) being shot dead by Scott for whining about taking so
long. The computer is being a bitch and if I was too then he'd totally
kill me! Haha

YAY!
"Through the Fire and Flames" was the only one I could never get all
the way through. I tried it again today and finished I admit it wasn't
with the most impressive stats (72% notes hit, 39 note streak) but at
least I can say I finished it!!! :D
