Brrr! Did I say Brrr because I meant Brrrrrrr

Article from the Edmonton Metro

Frigid temperatures recorded yesterday shattered records set in previous years, marking the coldest Dec. 13 in Edmonton’s history.

The temperature at the Edmonton International Airport dipped to -46.1 C at its lowest point, smashing the -36.1 C record set in 2008, Environment Canada meteorologist David Schmidt said yesterday.

“It was a chilly one,” he said.

The Edmonton City Centre Airport recorded -36.6 C yesterday, beating the previous record of -32.8 C set in 1882.

“We’re probably experiencing the coldest temperatures we’ll see for the next little while,” he said.

Thankfully, Schmidt added, the season’s icy grip will ease by mid-week when the  Arctic high-pressure area dominating weather over the Prairies will shift to a Pacific stream.

Temperatures will level out by Friday, likely reaching minus single-digits.
The all-time record at the International Airport was set in January 1972, when the mercury fell to -48.3C.

“We almost beat it — just within the two-degree range,” Schmidt said.
Edmonton was the coldest place in the world yesterday, second only to a Siberian weather station, where temperatures reached -48 C.

Christmas Ornaments

M and I were at Hallmark the other day and she came rushing over to me, so excited because she found the perfect ornaments for us, right beside each other.  I said, “I bet mine is a shoe or a dress!…”  Oh yeah, I am gooooood!

My Buddies, Mono, Chlamydia and Polio

George, my Serta Counting Sheep that has been in my window for probably 5 years has been evicted, and replaced with the giantmicrobes Mono, Chlamydia, and Polio.

Polio guards my prescription sunglasses.  Stay away or he will get you!

Yesterday i was walking to my car (not wearing my glasses) and from a block away I saw something green in the window.  I thought, WTF!  That better not be a ticket, because I know I still have 2 minutes left on the parking meter!  I laughed to myself when I realised what it was.  Oh, that’s not a ticket, it’s just my happy little toy Chlamydia!

Flakey

Pictures of my new bedroom fish, Flakey.  I hope I don’t have to tell him to keep it down so I can get some sleep.

White Fishy

I got a new fish on the weekend. It's a baby Beta and he is almost all white. I made a joke that I was joking to call it Dandruff and no matter how hard I try to pick a classy name (like Snowflake or Glitters or Crystal) the icky flake idea is funny. So Dandruff has evolved to Dander and now I have just decided to name him Flakey, like an icky flake of skin... or like the delicious Passion Flakies that are sold in the Twinkie isle of the convenience store.

Don’t Touch My Lunch

I have new lunch containers.  I hope they will deter others from touching my lunch in the office fridge and at home.

Wanting to leave with Herpes and Chlamydia

Yesterday, I was in the gift shop at the Telus World of Science, when I saw a tag in a basket of stuffies that said “Ebola”. I laughed at the silly name for a snake.  Then I reached for a purple round one with eyelashes: “Kissing Disease”.  The sunny yellow one was “Herpes”.  The happy green one was “Chlamydia”.  The mean black one was “Polio”.

The toys were GIANT Microbes!  The tags show the microscopic view of the actual microbe.  How ingenious!!  I wanted to take them all home with me!  These 4 are my favourites:

As I was at the display, a guy and girl walked over and were talking about them.  He was showing her one that he picked up, and I took that opportunity to offer him “Herpres”, which he willingly took from me. hehehe!  I gave a stranger herpes.

I want to be a science teacher now, and have these little Microbes all over the classroom!  They have a website so you can order these cuties online GIANTMicrobes .

New Favourite Jeans

LUCKY Rider jeansThis past weekend I took at trip to the Lucky store and tried on practically every pair of jeans in that shop.  I found only one pair that fit me, their Easy Rider jeans (pictured on the right).

Unfortunately, I left empty handed because they only had one pair of Easy Riders in my size and one leg was sewn shorter than the other!  The jeans were only 32” to begin with so hemming them was out of the question and with heels on, the un-even leg length was so obvious even a man would notice it.

GUESS Alana Bootcutjeans

A stop at the GUESS store proved to be more productive.  I tried on 2 pairs of jeans and went home with a pair of Alana Bootcut jeans! (pictured on the left)

I also totally love those shoes and want to track them down.  I think they are the Cashy shoes (pictured below).GUESS Cashy shoes

More Pink Kitchen Things

Pink measuring cups and spoons… I buy the pink kitchen stuff to try to motivate me to cook  more.  So far I would say that it isn’t working very well.  Still, one day it may happen…

OMG! How did I miss this?

I visit the Town Shoes store on a regular basis, and I have seen their Barbie line of shoes (I want every pair!), but it was just today that I noticed the cut out for the toes is in the shape of a heart!
