ipod Baby

I want a baby so I can dress him/her up like an ipod! Heck, if they made them in kid sizes, I would dress Miranda up like an ipod!! I think I would draw the line there, I don't know if I would dress yself up in an ipod shirt.

The website is ipop my baby. See more ipod babies here and buy the shirts here.

Computer Nerd

I got to work and was prompted to change my password and it wouldn't accept what I wanted to change it to. I tried a few more alternatives and it was still giving me error messages, mostly that I cannot use one of my past 12 passwords.

I got angry! and muttered to Damon that I was just going to change everything to "fuckyou". I paused for a second to think it over, and then immediately changed every work password I could to "fuckyou". Of course I had to use capitals and numbers in some instances because each logon has different password conditions to be met for security purposes.

hahahaha! Here I am, thinking I am so clever, when probably every computer nerd out there has already done the same thing.

gRuMbLe

Holy crappy weather, eh? Heavy, wet snow if falling from the sky. We are supposed to get 2cm of it, but I swear 2cm have already fallen and it's still coming down. Ah I just looked again and we're actually expected to have 5cm of snow today. blagh!

How bad am I ?

The Boyfriend was dead set about getting a profile on Facebook, and everyone knew his feelings about it, and what does the Girlfriend go and do? Yes I did... I set up a Facebook profile for him!! I warned him yesterday that I was going to do it. I sent out "friend" requests to his friends, so I wonder who will be the first to tell him about it. (I hope he doesn't disown me over it!)

who's that girl?

I would have been right on time for work today, but I stopped for some drinks and a croissant so I was nearly 10 minutes late. I get to my desk, pull out my beverages for the morning - one large can of Rockstar and one small can of Rockstar, because it helps to temporarily restore mental alertness or wakefulness when experiences fatigue or drowsiness.

Damon, my podmate, says: Oh snap! Angeline is hitting the Rockstars!
Angeline says: Helllll yaaaa! I'm rolling in to work this morning on zeeeero sleep!

I even made my fist into a dorky looking circle to indicate "zero".

Cinderella... or a wicked step-sister

I bought these shoes last week, but had to take them back because they just didn't fit right. An 8 was too long and a 7.5 was too narrow through the toes. :( These ones were BCBGirls but I think Nine West makes a shoe just like it, so perhaps I can track it down and might have better luck with it fitting.
ps - I love the Louis Vuitton wedges in the picture posted on the wall (on my desk at work). I ripped the page out of Vogue when I was getting my hair done last month because I loved the shoes and the dress. I'll post the picture later.

Expect Nothing

Expect nothing and you won't be disappointed. I need to figure out how to master that because it seems like every time I turn around I am feeling down. I spent all weekend excited at the prospect of going to see Econoline Crush tonight, only to find out this morning that someone's wife won't let him go to a concert on a Monday night. That's the story, anyway. Someone else would rather pull a large tree out of the ground for a friend's brother. That's his story, anyway. I can't find anyone else who likes Econoline Crush, or who might humour me by coming along! I couldn't get anyone to get Finger Eleven tickets with me, either, of Brand New... At first, I was thinking that it was the music, but now I am thinking that maybe the problem is with me, and people just do not want to be seen in public with me. haha! Would it be weird if I took Lucky along for company? I think the cat might appreciate a nice concert every once in a while.

Gearing Up

I've never had to look at ladies motorcycle gear but can you even begin to imagine how excited I was today when Scott was trying to dress me up like a Barbie doll an action figure. He sent me a picture of a jacket and it was PINK! He sent me a helmet and it was PINK! I clicked around the site and found that they have so much bike gear in PINK! Since I have been told I need to have the right gear if I want to ride with the boys when the bikes come out, I want PINK! *dreamy sign* He's the sweetest, always wanting to make sure I'm safe. My parents will totally flip out if they find out (reminder: my step-mum thought I was reckless when I drove to Banff), but it will be so much fun! I asked, and Scott said he hasn't fallen off his bike, plus I was impressed by his safe and responsible driving skills when he carting me around on the snowmobile. :)

FYI:
In European tests, 1.4mm leather gear withstood 5.8 seconds of heavy abrasion. Under the same conditions, denim jeans lasted 0.6 seconds. (source) ouch!

Monday Night

Econoline Crush is one of my favourite Canadian bands. (I know, I have like 100 of them, but my hotmail email is the name of their album from 2001!) I had totally given up hope of ever seeing them but Econoline Crush is playing at the Starlite Room on Monday!! I have a babysitter, so who wants to go with me?

Now I have 3 of their songs playing in my head at the same time and I don't have a single one on my ipod right now (4GB is not enough space for anyone!!). Chris is trying to talk me out of buying an 80GB ipod and going with an external HD instead, but here is a prime example of how useful the larger ipod would be. I could be listening to Home or Sparkle and Shine or Make it Right or You Don't Know What it's Like right now!

A little piece of Heaven

I love jewellery. I love computer gadgets. I loooooove this heavenly piece of computer gadgetry disguised as jewellery!! It's a 100MB memory stick by Active Crystals, a wonderful collaboration between Philips and Swarovski. I would look amazing hanging from my neck. They aren't available until August. *dreamy sigh* A girl can dream... I want one I want one I want one (or 2, or 3! They do have 4 different models).

They also are going to make gorgeous earphones!!

in memoriam

While you were working

While you were working, I was riding shotgun in bossman's super dirty Hummer H3, listening to Hillary Duff's new CD. Then I played some badminton and Shutes & Ladders. Had Subway for lunch, chatted with friends and then my 2.5 hour fun break was over.

Now I'm back at the office, banging my head against my desk, wishing I was anywere but here.

Something New

Scott and I spent the afternoon at the mall and look what I found! What I really need is new boots but I fell in love with this hoody and couldn't let myself leave the mall without it.

ps - shopping with Scott is soooo much fun because he likes to shop too and wasn't trying to hurry me out of the mall ! At one point he even asked me if there were stores I wanted to go to because he felt like he was the one dragging me around from store to store.

Easter Surprises

My Tamagotchi gave me an Easter surprise today!! Out of the corner of my eye I saw a bubbly sort of thing start to move across the screen. I thought it was a ghost or cloud, and I was crossing my fingers that the Tamagotchi wasn't about to die! Watching it longer, I discovered it was an egg being pushed by a rabbit. The rabbit pushed the egg back and forth across the screen a few times before it disappeared.

My stepmum also gave me an Easter surprise: a very large F*CK YOU. In front of me, she gave my brother a gift (a pair of gemstones) to pass along to his ex-girlfriend, which she and my daddy brought back from their recent trip to Aruba. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but let me mention a few facts.
1. my brother and his ex broke up A YEAR AGO, a fact that he did mention when my stepmum asked about his ex when my brother was talking about other girls.
2. they didn't bring back a gift for me, or my brother, from this trip.

My dad was surprised that she was giving them to my brother, as he thought they would be keeping them for Miranda for when she is older.

I shouldn't be so surprised. Her own children don't even talk to her, and now she is alienating me. They took off for their vacation in February without letting me know... and she was usually picking Miranda up from school on Tuesdays to get her to her early ballet class, and I was left scrambling to make arrangements, meaning taking personal time to leave work early. Over the past few months, she hasn't hidden the fact that she dislikes me so I should just get over it.

The Easter Bunnies

Here are the Easter Bunnies Miranda has seen over the years. (Why do we call him the Easter Bunny and not the Easter Rabbit? And why do we call it a him? Are we assuimg that a female bunny would be busy tending to the baby bunnies, and also not strong enough to hop around the globe carrying a heavy basket of chocolate and sugar treats?)

The Camera Phone

How I spent my Friday night -
Being entertained by these characters. :)
I used to be against the idea of having a camera phone: why would I need a camera on my phone when I always had my digital camera in my purse? For an instance like this, even having my camera in my purse wouldn't have been good enough to capture this picture. They piled up, said, "we need a picture of this," and within 4 seconds I had whipped my phone out of my pocket and snapped a picture. Incidentally, I now carry an itty bitty purse, with no hopes of fitting my digi camera inside it, so if I didn't have a camera phone the silly moment would have been lost. Thank you, camera phone!

Annual Meeting with the Easter Bunny

She just does it for the treats she gets afterwards. This year it wasn't a silly paper bunny-ear hat or a colouring sheet. This year, it was a bag of Mini-Eggs!

Miranda's Fashion Advice

I found this in Miranda's room. I have no idea where she got these ideas from!

Black haired people look good with green.
Brown haired people look good with red.
White haired people don't look good with dresses.
Blond haired people look good with blue.
Gray haired people look good with nothing.

I have access!

YAY!! I can access the blogger.com website from work again!! For a while it was being blocked by the network admins so I could only post through email, and that meant no pictures in my posts. Now only if I had soemthing interesting to blog about, with pictures.

Oh! I went shopping during lunch and freaked out at the salesgirl at La Senza. I had 6 items to try on and she would only let me take 5 into the fitting room. I said it was rediculous of them to not allow me one more item if they were wanting me to spend money in their store!! It was stupid on my part for being honest and I should have just told her I had 5 items and she would have been none the wiser. I probably would have bought this one but I didn't just out of principle.

There, a post with a picture, from work!!

Running records

Yesterday, I completed my farthest run ever, 7km !!  I was thinking last night that I should look into upcoming 5km races and run just for the heck of it and then eventually work my way up to 10km.  I don't know if I cold run with other people now, though.  When I first started, I was always in a group running but now I am used to running without having to talk to anyone.  I listen to my music and clear my head of all thoughts (or I get so deep in my thoughts that I'm not aware of what I'm thinking about).

And this morning I read that Alberta runner  Sandy McCallum has set a new world record for the highest number of desert ultramarathons run in one calendar year, with the last one being 240km, bringing the count to 6 races.

Warning: Scenes of Sex, Drugs & Rock n' Roll

Strata's video for Cocaine (We're All Going To Hell)
I let Miranda listen to the song because she has no idea what it means, however, I will not let her watch the music video. Strata will be in Edmonton with Finger Eleven in May, but I think the show is sold out. :( Perhaps the Easter Bunny will deliver tickets in my basket!! I doubt it, since I have been informed that he only give candies for Easter.

Their new album The End Of The World comes out June 12th!

Bad Day

- I woke up with a killer headache.
- I discovered that I lost the stone out of my "HOPE" ring, dammit!  I really liked that ring.
- It's still snowing
- My favourite boots are completely trashed! and need to be thrown out (soles cracked and peeling off, and they are ripped at the heel)
- I hate all of my other boots (they hurt my feet) (except 2 pairs, but I can't walk 10 blocks in the snow in them) and really want to be able to wear sandals outside again!
- My eyelash curler broke in the car and if I didn't have an extra one in my desk at work I might have murdered someone !

Can I please go home and crawl back in to bed?  Since I can't, I have grossly abused the concept of business-casual, dressing more on the side of casual and not at all on the side of business, kicked off my boots, and curled up in my chair with a large shawl. Even at that, I still look more presentable than 1/2 the people in the discounting department. (inside joke)

I'm also a little crabby because I didn't have my morning croissant. Moderation is the key, even one croissant a day is a little over-indulgent, I'd say.

If you've read this post to this point, I must ask, why??  Are you really that interesting in me, or really just that bored?

Joke for today

There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040 there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.

No Internet

"A little under one-third of U.S. households have no Internet access and do not plan to get it, with most of the holdouts seeing little use for it in their lives, according to a survey released on Friday."  read more

What rocks are these people living under??  I go into attacks of panic if my Internet goes down for 10 minutes!   This is a big improvement from how I used to be before.  I would feel anxiety setting in when even turning the computer off for the night! Silly, I know, because I would just be going to sleep and wouldn't have a need to have the Internet.  I wanted to have the computer on in the event that I woke up during the middle of the night and needed to google something, or something like that!  Yes, I might have had some issues back then...

ps - why does Internet have to be a capitalized name.  Spell check always corrects me when I use a small i .

New Chevelle CD

The new album by Chevelle, Vena Sera, comes out tomorrow, and of course I have already heard it. :D I am enjoying it more than I did Think Type of Thinking & Point #1 but not quite as much as I enjoyed Wonder What's Next (I love every song on that album!!). They have changed their style and in my opinion Vena Sera sounds more commercial (safe) than their other stuff, but don't get me wrong, it is still a great album!
  1. Antisaint - LOVE IT
  2. Brainiac - LOVE IT
  3. Saferwaters - MEH, it's ok, but I like their heavier songs better
  4. Well Enough Alone - MEH, I don't know why they didn't release a better song as their first single, especially when I think every song is radio friendly. It's ok when listening to it with the rest of the album (it seems to fit in) but on it's own I don't enjoy it so much. It's that Pete sounds to whiny when he sings the "Why we leave / Well enough alone / Never thought about the shame" bits. Take that part out and I would really like the song!
  5. Straight Jacket Fashion - LOVE IT
  6. The Fad - LOVE IT (it is rumoured that this will be the second single released)
  7. Humanoid - LOVE IT
  8. Paint The Seconds - LOVE IT
  9. Midnight To Midnight - LOVE IT
  10. I Get It - LOVE IT
  11. Saturdays - LIKE IT

Love Me, Love My Music

Even Miranda loves my music! Today, at her request, I loaded some new songs on her princess mp3 player, because every time she hears me play them in the car, she asks if I can put it on her mp3 player. I am proud of her good taste in music! :D

1. Cocaine - by Strata
2. Ladies and Gentlemen - by Saliva
3. Keep Your Hands Off My Girl - by Good Charlotte
4. Break Apart Her Heart - by Good Charlotte
5. Comin' Home - by City And Colour*

*She watched the City And Colour Live DVD with me this weekend and is now in love with Dallas Green

A strange thing happened on the way home today

Today after work, I was walking downtown towards the Art Gallery of Alberta (the old Edmonton Art Gallery) when I heard a CRASH behind me. A man on a bicycle had run through a red light and a car had hit him!! He fell off his bike, picked himself up, said sorry and rode off, leaving behind on the ground a bicycle seat and some sort of metal pipe.

The man was sort of bummish looking, so it's not like he was a business man riding his bike to work as a work out.

I stood watching this scene, and watching him ride away, completely stunned. How could someone get hit by a car and just carry on as if it was nothing more than a stumble while walking?? And he left those bike parts on the ground! I turned and walked away when two other bums were crossing the street and stopped to pick up the bike parts. I didn't want them attempting to talk to me.

Peeps time of year

It's that time of year again... and the best thing about Easter, aside from the Lindt gold chocolate bunnies, is the PEEPS ! Here is my Peep army:

It looks small and pathetic, but I am going to get sick tonight eating all those Peeps, so I though it best if I only made a small army to spare my belly. I wonder how many Peeps I can eat before I want to puke...

(edited)

I ate 9 then stopped. I gave 1 to Miranda. Then I ate 4 more. There is one lone purple Peep in the bowl. I can't even think about stuffing it in my mouth. I'm stuffed with Peeps.

Ballet Exam

Last Friday, I took the day off to take Miranda and Sadie to the dance studio for their grade one RAD exam. The girls came out of the examination, happy and confident! We should have the results in about six weeks.

Wii Wii Wii

Now that I have your attention... hahaha!
I did not get a wii today (unlike someone I know; congrats BTW) but I did have a fantastic lunch break in the mall and went back to the office with something better than a wii - my very own copy of City And Colour LIVE ! I bet the boyfriend was the only one buying 2 copies today. (Thanks you, thank you, you're the best!!) Initially he said that he was going to get 100 copies. That would have been funny to see.
I am ashamed to admit that I didn't have time tonight to watch the DVD that came with it.
ps - oooh'ing and ahhh'ing over the children's clothing in Alligator Pie was so much fun!

Favourite day of the week

Tuesday is my favourite day of the week. Why? Well, because that's the day when the record companies (are they still called record companies?) release new albums to the stores!

With the popularization of music over the internet, it takes away the excitement of New Music Tuesdays, since I can usually get albums on-line before their release date. But things will be different this Tuesday!!

Tomorrow, Scott and I are planning to hit the music store and actually buy CIty and Colour Live CD/DVD, which comes out tomorrow. Talk about exciting!!! It has my favourite unreleased songs, Confessions and Sensible Heart, both which Dallas Green sang when we saw him in January. Oh and Forgive Me! another previously unreleased song. Did I mention how excited I am?!

Other awesome new CDs

- Good Charlotte Good Morning Revival (March 27th) is freaking amazing!

- Finger Eleven Them vs. You vs. Me (March 6th)

- Modest Mouse We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank (March 20th)

Dress Up

Q: Why do little girls play dress up?

A: It is practice for when they are grown up. This way, they can go through their closet, trying on various outfits, planning what to wear tomorrow ... you know, to give them something to do when they get stood up by a man on a Friday night.

Seeing Stars

If you were staying at the Pan Pacific Vancouver and happened to run in to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, what would you say? Would you forget his name and call out Van! and tell him something along the lines of, I took my girlfriend to see Smokin' Aces and it was awesome!

... that's what makes my Rockstar so cool. :)

Hello, Spring?

No trick photography here, it's March 20th, in Edmonton, and it's freaking snowing! I have video evidence, too.

Mother Nature plays the cruelest of jokes. Here we are, excited at the start of Spring, and the weather has been warming up, the snow has been melting and then BANG! more snow.

In the snow's defence, the snowflakes are huge and soft and sparkling, and it was pretty to watch them fall down and around me.

Hair Whore/St Patrick's Day

I have been a bit of a hair whore since Anthony yet again abandoned me, but I am ready to settle down now. I went to see Allan (totally not gay) at Icon (he cut my hair once before Anthony resurfaced). He's only there on Fridays and Saturdays but definitely worth trying to fit him into my schedule.

On Saturday, I had my hair cut and coloured, something fun and flirty was what Allan wanted because he said it matched my bubbly personality. :D It's darker now, with bleached blond peek-a-boo highlights. I love it!

After my appointment, I met with Jenn, Michelle, LL and Damon and Yves. We had some drinks, dressed up the cats, and gave then Sambuca shots, which they turned their noses up at. Oh and I actually got ID'ed buying festive green Sour Puss at the liquor store. The day before I was in another store buying wine, with dark sunglasses on, and had no problems!

click to view the March 17 photos

We went to Whyte Ave, which was insanely busy! Why was it so busy, can someone please tell me! Do more people really drink out in the pubs because it's St Patrick's Day? Instead of fighting the lines, most of us left, and I went to hang out with Scott and his friends, as they drank beer and watched horrible movies on TV (End of Days, seriously horrible movie the first time around; 100 times worse watching it a second time!) Still, I think that was better than risking having green beer spilt on me in a pub. And please don't judge them because of the movie selection. ;)

Whose bright idea was it ... oh, an American's!

Since the clocks changed on Sunday morning, I have had a heck of a time getting to sleep at night, and waking up has been quite difficult (and we're only on day 3!).  Last night I forgot to turn on my alarm clock (and I have a new cell phone that doesn't have the option to set a weekday alarm that goes off Monday to Friday without me even thinking about it, like my old phone did, and guess what! I forgot to set it last night) so I slept in.  Guess what time I woke up at - THE EXACT TIME I would have been waking up at before the time change, exactly one hour late for this morning, leading me to ask, whose bright idea was is to adapt Daylight Saving Time two weeks early this year?  I HATE IT!!

Thank you U.S.A. for making me late for work today!  Thank you George W. Bush for making me late for work today!  Thank you stupid American Energy Policy Act of 2005 for making me late for work today!

And why is it called Daylight Saving Time ... we don't actually save any daylight, it's just shifted to later in the day.  Kudos to Saskatchewan, Arizona, and Hawaii standing up for themselves and keeping away from the DST idea.

Another Waver!

(Scott, I totally forgot to tell you about this last night!!)

Guess who has another waver... me!

Yesterday while I was running, I was rounding the corner by the spin class area and this guy was by the weights and he waved to me, and smiled, AND SAID HELLO.  I said hi and kept on running.  Lucky for him I wasn't too far into my run otherwise I wouldn't have been able to say anything back and he would have thought me to be a total snob. ha ha!

He's a muscly guy with no neck and usually wears a faded maroon coloured ball cap.  He is there, with his friends, on a somewhat regular basis.

He is not the same waver from December, but at the end of January I was walking behind them leaving the gym and one guy told the other 2 guys, there's that girl, and then they all looked at me as I walked past them, and it was soooo obvious they were talking about me.

Crack Doctor

I went for the first time to see a chiropractor.  For over a decade I have noticed a popping in my back/hip when I do sit ups that involve single leg extensions.  I didn't think that was normal and finally decided to have it check out. She aligned my back and worked on my neck and oh my gosh how much do I love that massage machine she has!!  Turns out the ligaments/tendons whatever in my back/hip are tight and she said to work on stretching out the hip flexor and quads (or was it the hamstrings, I can't remember now! no, no it was the quads, because she said I was tight in the front)  I go back on Thursday for a follow up and then next Wednesday I start getting massages again.  I forgot how much I have missed them!

  2. The History of Love: A Novel Nicole Krauss
  3. Never Let Me Go Kazuo Ishiguro

The Hudsons Hangover

This should have been posted 2 weeks ago but I've been busy and sort of neglecting my blog.
On Friday I got to experience a night out drinking with Scotty and his friends. On Saturday I spent the day suffering from hangover! Yes, I learnt my lesson: I cannot keep up with the big boys when it comes to drinking, especially when it starts at 2:00 in the afternoon!!
I think, while in a drunken stupor, I might have agreed to join the dodgeball team. I hope no one remembers that, because I can't even remember the rules to the game, and I don't know if I could stand having people trying to intentionally hit me with a ball. Maybe I'll check out a game and see. It mught be fun!
His friends are great, and a lot of fun! Wow, looking at the photos, there was a lot of hugging and kissing and licking (what the heck was up with that??). I think I remember everyone's name... there were so many people at our table!

So, what does it mean, to die?

About a month ago, Kev was raving about this movie, said I HAD to see it. I download it and was going to watch it but then got busy doing other things and then Cookie tells me he started watching it and it was good, so good that he didn't finish it so he rented it again the next weekend to watch it all the way through. Then a bunch of other people at work and stuff were talking about it... well I finally watched THE ILLUSIONIST and I LOVED IT. Thank you for the recommendation!!

Waiting For The Day

You can also listen to the song here (minus all the chattering in the background). I totally need to buy this album!!

Saturday, February 24, 2007

What a fun day!

Was I scared? Nah, not really. When we were starting off, Scott told me to hand on and no matter what, keep my feet on the sideboards, even if I felt like we were going to tip over, and leave everything to him. So that's what I did! The snow was sooooo deep in a lot of the fields, and we got stuck a few times but he did a good job of keeping me from falling off the snowmobile.

We were out for 5 hours!! It was sunny with clear blue skies and not too cold. Don't get me wrong, at a few points my toes and hands were a bit cold but they would warm up as we stopped going to fast. White, powdery snow everywhere, and when we were zipping over the pristine fields with the snow sparling as if wearing a coat of diamonds, it was so lovely!

Scott is such a sweety!! He would ask me along the way if I was warm enough, or too warm. When we were on own way back to the city and stopping for snacks, he made sure I selected the best orange juice and then in the truck he went to hand me the bottle, but then quickly snatched it back so he could shake it up for me. Awww! I can shake up my own juice, and would have done it, but it is nice that he is looking out for me.

The HUGEASS hill we went UP and DOWN and UP and DOWN again. I should have taken pictures from the very bottom looking up and from the top looking down. I will a tiny bit apprehensive at the first attempt, but once I knew what to expect it was fine. (and I will now admit that I was also a little nervous going down some of the ditches; I thought we were going to flip ass over nose!)

I wish I would have taken a picture when we first started out - the little trees had snow crystals stuck to them that reminded me of the science project from elementary school where you dissolve sugar in water, stick in a string and then the sugar crystalizes on the string. We can go again, but it will be hard to find another day that is exactly like this magnificent day was.

Headline News (updated)

(picture added)
Angelinie is going snowmobiling with Scotty tomorrow and she is totally stoked!!! It gives a purpose to all the powdery snow that has been falling over the past few days. Tomorrow's weather should be sunny and not too cold (moring -12C, rising to -5C)

Close My Eyes

Today's favourite song: Close My Eyes by Mesh-29 - a guitar/piano acoustic group from the UK and they sound amazing! Waiting For The Day and Cigarettes are my favourite songs, neither of which I have been able to find to download.
If you were I then I'd be right and you'd be fine

And all the shit you blame me for

I'd leave behind

This record's on repeat and now

It's all worn out

A tired song of what went wrong

When I was right

But I'm afraid there is no other way

And I'm scared that I'll be nothing

'Cause when I close my eyes

I want to be somebody else

And if I spoke my mind

I'm be the one you're leaving out

And now I'm tired, I'm tired of letting go

Tied up and left to sit alone

Too late 'cause now I'm on my own

She turns her head to say good night

Just one more time

The conversation ends

She sleeps just one more time

'Cause when I close my eyes

I want to be somebody else

And if I spoke my mind

I'm be the one you're leaving out

And now I'm tired, I'm tired of letting go

Tied up and left to sit alone

Too late 'cause now I'm on my own

Song of the Day

My favourite song for today is Trophy by Bat For Lashes. I found the song for download here. I discovered Bat For Lashes one day while at reading a music magazine at the hair salon while Noemi was getting her hair done. The magazine (Spin? I cannot even remember which on it was) mentioned the song What's A Girl To Do, which instantly became one of my favourite songs after listening to it. The vocals in Trophyare a little bit Bjork-ish, but the singing is all in tune to the music, not like how Bjork sometimes has a tune in her head different to which the music is being played. In other songs, she sounds like Kate Bush. Check out the whole album (Fur and Gold) it is great!

Roadside

I was going to put this with the Make This Go On Forever post, but really, each song deserves its own post.

My new favourite song of the hour: Roadside by Rise Against. I swear I listened to it 50 times the other night.

Tell me what I'm suppose to do
With all these left over feelings of you
Cause I don't know

And tell me how
I'm suppose to feel
When all these nightmares
Become real

Cause I don't know

And I don't think you see
The places inside me
That I found you

And I don't know how we
Separate the lies here from the truth

And I don't know how we
Woke up one day somehow thought we knew
Exactly what we're suppose to do

So leave me
At the roadside
And hang me
Up and out to dry

Make This Go On Forever

Over the past two days I have listened to Make This Go On Forever by Snow Patrol probably a hundred times! I want to melt into it. I also wish that a ticket to see the April 10th concert will magically fall into my lap.

Please don't let this turn into something it's not
I can only give you everything I've got
I can't be as sorry as you think I should
But I still love you more than anyone else could

All that I keep thinking throughout this whole flight
Is 'it could take my whole damn life to make this right'
This splintered mast I'm holding on won't save me long
Because I know fine well that what I did was wrong

The last girl in the last reason to make this last for as long as I could
First kiss and the first time that I felt connected to anything
The weight of water, the way you taught me to look past everything I had ever learned
The final word in the final sentence you ever uttered to me was love

We have got through so much worse than this before
What's so different this time that you can't ignore?
You say it is much more than just my last mistake
And we should spend some time apart for both our sakes

The last girl in the last reason to make this last for as long as I could
First kiss and the first time that I felt connected to anything
The weight of water, the way you taught me to look past everything I had ever learned
The final word in the final sentence you ever uttered to me was love

The last girl in the last reason to make this last for as long as I could
First kiss and the first time that I felt connected to anything
The weight of water, the way you taught me to look past everything I had ever learned
The final word in the final sentence you ever uttered to me was love

And I don't know where to look
My words just break and melt
Please just save me from this darkness
Please just save me from this darkness

Valentines

I intended to make some elaborate Valentines this year but I procrastinated (ok, so I have been busy with the gym and too tired!) and took a simpler route.

Lorraine & Eric Visit

Feb 10th, party at Michelle & Jenn's. Occassion: housewarming and because Lorraine and Eric were visiting. Eric is from NYC and this was our first chance to meet him. We went to Iron Horse on Whyte Ave and that was a treat (not!) Note to self: DO NOT go there again. It's just not my crowd, and I didn't ever say one work to anyone who was outside of the friends circle.

oh! that's not entirely true... when I left, I asked these guys waiting to cross the street if they were going over by Southgate because I needed a lift, because it was 1:00 in the morning, it was cold and snowing, and I hate having to try to hail a cab on Whyte! One guy said ya, his dad was on his way to pick them up. Turns out these boys are like 18! haha! We stood in the drive thu line at McDonald's for a few minutes (did I mention it was snowing?) and then the dad showed up before they could get food. They didn't need the greasy crap anyway. Then I went back downtown to meet up with Tall Kevin and Craig at Overtime.

Gift Ideas

Noemi found this website and there is a lot of neat personalized stuff there. I know my birthday is still a few months away, but I really want this hoodie! Size small, please ;)

songs I listen to that my friends detest

Here's a short list of the songs I can remember my friends telling me they hate it when I play...

  1. Michelle doesn't like Lighting Is My Girl by Auf Der Maur (In Michelle's words - or anything by "that girl from Smashing Pumpkins")
  2. Scott doesn't like Pleasure Principle by Lesbians on Ecstasy (he also says I listen to too much Indie crap)**
  3. Eelke doesn't like Pioneers by Tunng
  4. Kevin doesn't like Degausser by Brand New, even though he likes the band
  5. **Scott decided Lesbians on Ecstasy might not be so bad after all, but he doesn't like Snow (Hey oh) by the Red Hot Chili Peppers

I say :p to them all because I like these songs!

Whale Blubber

I clicked on this link Protein and learned that under Finfish and Shellfish Products Raw, Green Turtle is the 2nd best protein source next to Raw Frogs Legs!! Under Poultry Products they list Emu, under Ethnic Foods is Seal, Walrus and Beluga Whale!! I was could hardly tell Michelle wheat I found because I was laughing so much!!

So Michelle asks if Whale Blubber is listed as a good fat source and I excitedly said, "I will check!!" and sure as shit, they do have Whale Blubber (see image below) I was laughing historically because it is at the top of the caloric ratio pyramid.

Ewww you can also see the nutrient information for Beluga Whale EYES. Their moisture content is 55%... learn something new every day!!

I can't eat that much!

At work today, Damon sent this website to Michelle, and she sent it on to me http://www.nutritiondata.com/ . I went to the Daily Needs Calculator and before I post my results I need to say make an announcement:

I have 11 packs of butter in my desk!!

When I get a croissant from Sunterra in the morning, I grab a few packs of butter so Michelle and I have them to put on our Ryvita crackers and English muffins.

At 10:00, Michelle and I were on the escalator after getting breakfast, I lifted up my shirt, and patted a butter container on my tummy to illustrate that it's going to go right there and she said that was the funniest thing to see me do. Some of the guys in the office were on the Up escalator and I think they might have seen me. haha! They probably think I am insane. There were people everywhere; everyone probably thinks I am insane.

Anyways, so there is no way I can consume nearly 3100 calories a day, but at least know why I am still dropping fat even though I eat croissants and real butter and lots of dark chocolate. That's not all my diet consists of, I do eat a lot of vegetables and fruit and lately a lot of bread (raisin bread & whole grain) and multigrain crackers (Grains First Spring Harvest by Dare are the BOMB!) Oh and I didn't even mention that I am doing weight training, so I probably need even more than 3100 calories.

My Tamagotchi

I'm am an adult and I have a Tamagotchi. It was a present from Eelke. They are heartbreaking little things.

I lost my Tamagotchi on Saturday. I had been naming, feeding, playing with, and nurturing these electronic pets since the start of the year, without them dying on me. Conni was a 4th generation (meaning I raised 4 tamas and their offspring before her) and she had a baby. I was so upset that I had become so attatched to this silly toy!!
I found it Sunday afternoon, in the pocket of my bath robe. Conni and the baby were hungry, sick, and surrounded by poop, but still alive!! I nursed them back to health and later that night Conni left and I only had the baby, which I named Uma.
Ok, so what happens when the parent leaves... at midnight on the second night of having a baby, if you turn on the light you see the adult Tama wake up, stare at the baby Tama and then slowly fly away. They abandon their young!! In the morning, when the baby Tama wakes up, you have to select a name and then it starts to cry. wah! How heartbreaking! This is a child's toy and it I am reacting like this, how is a child going to react to it?? Oh what a cruel world.

Music Monday

I'm being sneaky today and listening to music at work!  I am wearing a turtle neck sweater and have my hair down, so running the earphone wire under my shirt to one ear and having my ipod in my pocket, no one has noticed.  I just have to remember not to start singing along to the music! heehee  I don't see what the big deal is, I have one ear free to talk on the phone and actually it is increasing my productivity because I am not gabbing with the girls like I usually do.
  1. Skyline - by Diefenbach
  2. The River- by Good Charlotte
  3. Sowing Season (Yeah) - by Brand New
  4. Mixed Tape - by Jack's Mannequin
  5. Kill The Messenger - by Jack's Mannequin
  6. Degausser - by Brand New
  7. On The Move - by Diefenbach
  8. Cat And Mouse - by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
  9. Amazed - by Greg Laswell (not crazy about the entire song, but the chorus is catchy!
  10. Luv Me or Hate Me - by Lady Sovereign

It's a hard life being a cat.

I just played this on the computer and Lucky, who is sitting at my feet, looked up when she heard my voice in the video clip. haha! I just played it again and she did the same thing! hahah!!

Smokey & the Bandit

Jennifer (Smokey) and Michelle (Bandit) got kittens and they are soooo stinking cute!! Smokey is so tiny and Bandit hs these white hairs all through his black coat, it looks so neat. I had total kitten envy the whole time I was visiting there.

Oh! and I should have taken pictures of the their new place, it's so neat! The foyer has a cool winding staircase and chandelier. Miranda walked in and said, oh Mummy, I know why you like this place; it's so clean and quiet! lol I hadn't even opened my mouth to comment on it when she said that. And the halls leading to the suits are decorated... oh it is indescribable! I will have to get a picture.

Breakfast Blog

It was to Moxie's for breakfast this afternoon (ah it was so nice to sleep in! but not really since I was up until nearly morning watching episodes of The Office and listening to music; I'm now hooked on the show, and Jack's Mannequin) and ummmmm it was soooo good! I was starving and it was so pleasant to have a fantastic meal. I had the texas breakfast wrap: scrambled eggs, salsa, black beans, corn, green onions, tomatoes and cheddar in a tortilla, served with salsa, sour cream and guacamole with breakfast potatoes on the side. I totally shouldn't have done anything with dairy, but it was soooo worth the sore milk allery ears I have now. It felt naughty to be having a mimosa with breakfast, but really, I have decided it is going to be a Sunday breakfast tradition. :)

Smokin' Aces

Last night I was coerced into seeing Smokin' Aces. Ok, ok, I admit, I ended up walking into the theatre voluntarily, but it wouldn't have been my movie of choice had I been asked to pick the flick. I figured with Ryan Reynolds and Matthew Fox and Ben Afflick I would at least get a little eye candy out of it, but sadly, the gentlemen were all covered with hideous facial hair!

Upon leaving the theatre, my initial assessment of the film was that I liked the ending, but the movies was overall pretty f'ed up and bloody. Today, I am thinking that the movie wasn't so bad after all. I mean, I sat through the entire film and not once felt the urge to check out the time to try to figure out how much longer the movie would be going on for. It kept me on my toes and there were not very many instances where I thought, Oh I know what's going to happen next. It was also really nice to be a theatre that wasn't full of kids (this movie carries an 18A rating).

H2O

Buying bottled water is wrong, says Suzuki.

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/newfoundland-labrador/story/2007/02/01/suzuki-water.html

Canadians wanting to do something about the environment can start by drinking tap water, environmentalist David Suzuki says.

Sorry, David, but I cannot stand the taste of tap water. I will use Edmonton tap water to make tea, cook my food, feed my cat (she actually doesn't like bottled water), wash my hair and brush my teeth with, but when it comes to drinking just plain water, I need to have the pure, clean taste of Dasani or Aquafina or other demineralized water. I always recycle my bottles. And since I use tap water for everything else, my doctor assures me that I am (and that Miranda is) getting enough fluoride.

I know an alternative to bottled water would be to use a water filtration system. Since it costs a fair bit to get one put in the house, I will look in to a portable filtration method, like using a Brita filter. How does that sound, David?

ps - I really miss watching The Nature of Things!

Sudden Outburst

The girls were walking in the mall at lunch (meaning Me, Michelle and Jennifer) when suddenly Michelle burst out in a fit of laughter. It was hilarious because the three of us had not been taken a few moments of silence (surprisingly!) and when she started laughing for no apparent reason, the group of oncoming guys looked at us soooo puzzled, like she had turret's or something like that.

Once finished laughing, she explained that she was watching me walk and then watching Jenn walk, (since we were walking slightly ahead of her) and then she was trying to mimick us. Hearing this admission caused us all to burst out laughing. By her assessment, I strut like a model and Jenn takes short, quick steps. Michelle was amused because walking is something that everybody does, but everyone does it differently.

My Old Wallpaper

I changed my desktop wallpaper last week. Here is old one.
