TRON Legacy

tron_ducatiLast night, in preparation to watch TRON Legacy, I re-watched the original TRON film.  It seemed so much cooler when I saw it 25 years ago!  It’s a movie that didn’t age well, looking silly compared to film magic of today.  But TRON Legacy was awesome!  Yes, Sam (as Calvin pointed out) had lines that consisted of at most 5-word sentences, but he was sooo nice to look at, and the black and white and glow-suit imagery was visually exciting and very appealing, and the Daft Punk OST was fun, energizing, and fitting.  And I was super excited to see that Sam was riding my dream motorbike, a Ducati Sport Classic!

itunes-trailers-gallery-olivia_wilde_in_tron_legacy_jpg_9-28-2010I didn’t get to see it in 3D, due to technical difficulties. Sad smile  I will have to take the girls later in the week.  They were disappointed to hear I was going to the movie without them.  I didn’t think they would be interested in it, but they have been watching the previews on the Disney Channel, so that’s how they knew about it.  I think the tech talk will have them a little lost and confused, but there the story is easy enough to follow without understanding all of it.

New word for the day

I came across a new word today, while preparing a package for return.  The instructions on the mailing slip said “Fold this Bill of Lading on the dotted line and insert into the labelope.  Attach a Bill of Lading to each package.”  Labelope… lol!  It makes sense when put into context… an envelope for holding a label.

Almost wishes it was 2011

I *almost* wish it was 2011 so I could use my new PINK agenda that was delivered today.  Almost… because if it was the start of 2011 right now, that would mean it would be cold and wintery out.  brrrr!  I could do without that!

Office Art

While waiting for an install to complete, I was looking at an iPhone app, CameraFun.  I was trying to use the camera within the app to take a self portrait but it didn’t work out so well, I kept chopping off the lower half my head in a very unflattering way.

A little, happy dream

MH900447073 On Friday night, I had a silly little happy dream.

I was going to the supermarket and as I was walking from my car to the door, there was a guy on the sidewalk with a clipboard. As I approached him, he asked if I wanted to sign up for whatever-it-was.

I pleasantly sang, No thank you! and bounced past him.

He called after me, annoyed, Then why were you smiling?

I looked over my shoulder and replied back, Because I'm happy!

Just Flip A Coin

pink clubs The first round of golf with my new shoes and new clubs was quite the experience.  We went to Countryside, and had to be there bright and early for a 8:34 tee time. (ugh too early for a Saturday morning!)

The weather was cold (under 10 degrees) and very, very windy, so it made for a tough 18 holes, but it was still a lot of fun!  We rented a golf cart so I didn’t use my new pushy cart.  I discovered that my set contained two 5H clubs, so I have to exchange one for a 4H.  I didn’t lose any pink balls, either, although I had some pretty good retrievers watching where they land… thanks boys!  I might have abandoned 2 in the tall grass if I had been searching for them on my own.  Mostly I hit pretty straight so the pink balls were easy to see.  I also didn’t shoot over the water because the wind was so bad and honestly, I can’t drive them all that far yet.

In the end, my score card contained mostly :) faces, a few meh faces, and only one :( face!  All in all, a great round because I had fun!

My Mom's on Facebook

A funny hairband video.

You used to be a special place
for all my college friends.
A sanctuary in cyberspace,
but every love story ends.
Why'd you have to go and lose
your exclusivity?
Now all my nightmares have come true...
my mom just friended me!

Since she joined she spends all her time
checking my news feed.
My interests are no longer
bubble butts and sticky weed.
She whacked my ass on Mafia Wars
and Flixtered "You've Got Mail."
She washed the colors with the whites
and posted "laundry fail" ('cause now)...

My mom's on Facebook.
She found a new way to nag me.
My mom's on Facebook.
Comments whenever friends tag me.
My mom's on Facebook.
She only got it to stalk me.
My mom's on Facebook.
My childhood photos cock-block me.

My wall is not for e-mail, mom,
you'll never get it right.
And gifting me some sexy lips
don't mean a kiss goodnight.
She keeps on adding all my friends,
they just think she's a joke...
except for Steve who says that she's
a mom he'd like to poke. (She's a M.I.L.P.!)

Mama read my 25 Things
and each and every note.
Now she knows I lost a bet
and had to wax my scrote.
Suggests new pages every day
from "hugs" to "Will and Grace."
It's getting to the point I'll have to
switch back to MySpace. (But not really!)

Wrote in my status,
"boss is keeping me at work."
Mom responded, "now I see
why you told me he's a jerk."
My boss saw it and fired me
and mom's the reason why.
Now I'm starving and I'm lonely
and I'm probably gonna die... (because)

My mom's on Facebook.
Now I've gotta watch every word.
My mom's on Facebook.
Oooh, goddamn you, Mark Zuckerburg.
My mom's on Facebook.
Posted a public reminder...
My mom's on Facebook.
...that I came out her vagina!

My mom's on Facebook.
Invited me to my cousin's communion.
My mom's on Facebook.
It's like a family reunion.
My mom's on Facebook.
I'm trying not to be bitter...
My mom's on Facebook.
...but she just found me on Twitter!

My mom, your mom, his mom, Steve's mom... all moms!
They're all on Facebook

Choose your own story

Remember the days of the choose your own adventure books? Here's a commercial where you control the ending.

Yesterday's fortunes

Hidden in one cookie, were three fortunes.

  1. How about France?  I could go for a trip there.
  2. Green, hmmmmm, maybe I’ll come in to a bunch of money, although our money hasn’t been green for years.
  3. So far I wouldn’t call today a productive day, but I guess it depends on the definition of productive.  At least I didn’t sleep in too late.

And in my second cookie, just one fortune:

Fortune Cookies

I bet I eat more fortune cookies than the average Chinese person!

These are the ones scattered about my desk.  I probably have just as many floating around my house and at the bottom of various purses.

The Adjustment Bureau

Matt Damon, a chick who runs in heels, a gripping love story, and a paranormal agency trying to keep the couple apart – it has to be cool!

I saw a trailer for this in the theatre not too long ago, but the release isn’t scheduled until March 2011.

Best movie I’ve seen in a long time

I saw Inception on Saturday night.  I heard from sources that you shouldn’t be late getting there, and don’t doze off or get up to leave the theatre, in other words, don’t miss a second of it, or you might get lost.

The movie wasn’t hard to watch.  The plot is simple.  Yes, if missed screen time then you might have missed something vital, but the movie was so engaging that I couldn’t see myself leaving my seat.  It is the underlying motive in the movie that will keep you thinking about it as you leave the theatre.  I had a few “I know what’s going to happen next” instances, but it didn’t spoil the movie.  The scene transitions were flawless and the acting was amazing.  It really is as brilliant as everyone is saying!

Plot summary from IMDB (without giving anything away):

Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.

Wine in a Can

I am drinking wine in a can, a BillyRock Station Chardonnay.  I saw it at the Aligra Wine & Spirits, in West Edmonton Mall. They guy working there said it wasn’t too bad, and for only $5 a can, I decided to give it a try.  Chardonnay isn’t my drink of choice, but in a pinch, this wine will do the trick.  It tastes better than a lot of house wines.
