Nine In The Afternoon

Every music elitist has a list of golden albums, the ones that you play when everything else that you listen to start to annoy the pants off you, or you just don't know what to listen to.  One of my "never-fails-me" is Panic! At the Disco.

prettyoddThe Vegas band has a unique sound, a burlesque rock pop electronica mix, with cool horns.  Their videos are awesome and entertaining and now, after 2 1/2 years of waiting, Panic At The Disco (having dropped the ! from their name) is finally releasing their second album, Pretty.Odd, on March 25!! Pretty.Odd is supposed to not follow the same style as A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, with the new album being more classic rock-ish.

You can hear the first single Nine In The Afternoon here!  I love it and have been listening to it over and over and over in the car.

Love at first sight

I'm addicted to the way I feel when I think of you.

I love my iPod Touch, but as I outlined last week, it's lousy for listening to music on the go. That's why I need a new Nano! I know I posted a picture already of the new PINK Nano, but this one looks sooooo pretty. And it's the colour of my new blog! :)

I image these will sell like hotcakes this Valentine's Day.

Ice Princess

glitter-girl-skates

Miranda has always wanted to learn to skate.  Her class is skating at the rink behind the school for the next few weeks, so she needed skating gear.  The boyfriend (a.k.a Mr. Awesome) took her shopping and she is now the proud owner of CCM Glitter Girl ice skates!!

I didn't pick them out just because they are pink.  They were the last pair of girl skates at Canadian Tire, and just her size!  Call it Destiny, Fate, a Miracle...

DSC00537She wasn't as fortunate with the helmet.  The only one that fit her (much to Scott's delight) is decorated with flames.  Miranda said, "Mummy, my helmet is flame-able". (she meant flammable)  We promised she could pick out some FOX stickers to cover the flames, and that pacified her. Until we get the stickers, she'll be a little punk princess on the ice.

Now we need to get skates so we can take her to the rink on the weekends!

The Nines

ninesOne of the things the boyfriend and I do together is check out the new movie trailers at http://www.apple.com/trailers . The Nines instantly shot its way to the top of our "must see" list.  Although it was never released to the movie theatres here, it's now out on DVD.

In traditional form, I fell asleep watching it the other night, so I had to re-watch the ending the next afternoon.

I didn't read more about the movie prior to watching it, and I thought it was going to be creepier that it was.  The not knowing made it all the more interesting, as I tried to figure out how it all fit together, and what was the meaning behind the 9's.  I think it's a film you will either love or hate, but I definitely suggest you give it a try if you are interested in intellectual films.

To sum up the movie in a word, I would say FUN, but not fun as in a traditional comedy kind of way.  It was very peculiar and puzzling and thought provoking, but not in a super profound my-head-hurts-at-the-magnitude-of-it kind of way.  It was captivating and unpredictable.  I really enjoyed it.

What is Tom smoking?

When I was 21, I bought a book.  I was in love with the X-Files and all things science and spacey, and I was reading some pretty whacked out stuff at the time, about Fibonacci numbers, the golden spiral, the flower of life, the tree of life and super-string theory. This book was about religion and it made my head spin with insanity.

I bought it more for entertainment and to expand my general knowledge of what others believe in, not because I wanted to be a follower.  The book was said to explain a method for spiritual rehabilitation, and covers topics such as morals, ethics, detoxification, education and management.  Not at all bad topics, as self improvement is always important.  It explains this triangle theory, the points representing Knowledge, Responsibility and Control, which made sense to me- gather knowledge so you can act responsible and take control of your density and the world around you.

Then it started talking about Thetans and their existence for trillions of years and how they were traumatized by alien implants. And when a person (fundamentally a host body) dies, the Thetans are released to another planet, some stuff happens there, then they are dumped back on Earth.  It doesn't even touch on the dangerous health purification practices, the suspicious 'suicides' of its followers and how they manage to extract every penny from its follower's pockets.

This my friends, all takes place in the Scientology book I read.  This is the religion (who the hell am I kidding, it's a freaking CULT) that has sucked in all kinds of people.  Seriously, you can't tell me that Tom Cruise is not smoking something to actually believes this crap!  Watch this video, because he can't really be serious!  This is something you might believe when you're drunk and high, but in a few weeks you sober up and wonder what the fuck you ever saw in it.  He makes no sense and just says the same thing over and over and laughs retardedly.  Either he's totally off his rocker, of the 'church' is paying him to be their spokesman and it's the best performance of his acting career.

And if you've made it this far, here's a fun video Scientology= WTF?  by MC Lars

It's his birthday, but I get a present

On Friday I finally got my Christmas present!  It didn't come wrapped, nor under a tree, but he did deliver it to my house and set it up for me.  I won't be returning this one.

B&W

I just figured out how to switch to the B&W setting on my Sony camera.  It's amazing what you can learn when you pick up the manual!  There are soooo many different indicator icons on the screen on this camera.  I miss my old camera.

the new boyfriend

It has been nearly a month and I have yet to blog about the love I have for the new boyfriend.  He goes everywhere with me, never gets mad at me, and doesn't complain when I keep him up late at night.  Oh ya, and the new boyfriend and I have spent many nights together in the old boyfriend's bed!  kinky, eh?  heheh

My iPod Touch a.k.a. The New Boyfriend

I year ago, I blogged about wanting an iPhone and the bloody things still are not in Canada.  However, my wonderful brother put an iPod Touch under the tree for me this last Christmas!  I have named it "the new boyfriend".

The boyfriend got one from his parents, and like the sweet geek couple we are, we lay together in bed and play with our iPods.  He hacked them for us so we can install themes and various applications.

Since the firmware 1.1.3 release, he has chosen to upgrade (and lost the jail break) while I am keeping mine hacked. I like having the applications to access when I'm not connected to the Wi-Fi, and I like my last.fm scrobbler app, and the send-a-song app, and the music quiz app, and the eBooks app, and I'm totally addicted to the games, Mines and Slots, and I can't forget to mention the they-might-come-in-handy-on-day apps like Flashlight and Blinker.

The touch is great for Internet stuff, watching videos on YouTube, watching movies, and looking at pictures, but when it comes to listening to music, it kinda bites.

1. The shuffle feature is crap, because it doesn't shuffle very well at all.  Quite often it plays back to back songs by the same artist, and I supposed that's random, but when I have 5GB of music on it, you'd think it could mix it up better.

2. I like to listen to music while laying on the couch and after a few minutes the screen turns off, so if I want to skip to the next song, I have to open my eyes, double click the home button and then touch the screen controls.

3. The screen doesn't respond to mitten touches, so when I have it plugged in to the FM transmitter in my car, I have to take of my gloves to touch the controls on the screen.

4. My Nike running attachment doesn't work with the Touch.  Guess I'll be keeping my old Nano for running.

Now I REALLY REALLY REALLY want an iPhone.

Spiral Beach

Canadian band, Spiral Beach, check out this video for their song Made of Stone.  It's pretty neat.  I like when they're doing the thing on the stairs and the chalk outline in the living room.  Plus, there's a chick with pink hair ;) Oh ya, and I love the song.

I dream Ducati

Saturday was a day of transformation.  At the start of the Bike Show, I was asked if I was going to get a bike of my own.  I laughed, said I would drive too fast and probably get killed, and said I was perfectly content to always be Boyfriend's bike bitch.

Then I saw this bike and my view on life changed.  I can't be Boyfriend's bike bitch forever!  One day I will have to  grow wings of my own.

The Ducati SportClassic SPORT 1000 biposto....*drool* I tried to be very cool and  nonchalant about it, but at the end, I was seriously high from the lustful feelings it evoked in me.   Even now, my heart races at the memory of sitting on it.  I can't remember when I last wanted something so bad!

NV41768_1_400

I wish I had taken pictures of it at the show, because the ones online don't do it any justice.  It's black, with a white racing stripe down the tank.  The mirrors come out from the ends of the handlebars.  It's HOT!  I knew I would never want a touring bike, and the sport bikes look to sporty for me.  This one is perfect!  It has a classy and elegant look to it.   I AM IN LOVE!

Biker Chicks

At this years Motorcycle Show, there were some cute pink bikes in the merchandise hall. The Quad is awesome! (I wonder if they make it in an adult size, as this one was a mini-quad)

As much as I love pink, I wouldn't want a bike motorbike.  Black, silver, or white and then I could dress myself in all the pink I want!

There were a few other pink bikes, but I didn't want to feel like a Japanese tourist.  Now I'm kicking myself for not taking more pictures, screw what people think of me!!

Happy New Year!

new years eve 2007

So I'm a bit behind!  I know it's a week into the New Year already, but this week hasn't been the smoothest of weeks.  I came home from Phoenix on the morning of Dec 24th and my ceiling was leaking.  It wasn't until the Jan 2nd that someone was sent to start the repairs.  It was supposed to be finished on Friday, but now on Monday, there is still work to be done.

you can see the dust in the airDSC00423

and this is how it looks right now, and everything is covered in dust and plastic and I wonder when I will be able to start living in my place again.  The dust reeks havoc on my allergies so I have to shut myself upstairs in my room tonight.  Up until now, I have been staying with the bf.

Pink Presents

I wonder if one day I will wake up and detest the colour pink, like I did when I was 13 and insisted that my mum replace the pink walls of my bedroom with bold black and white stripes with accents in red.

I say this because I have accumulated a LOT of pink items over the Christmas break.
